Debating whether or not my daughter is old enough to see the new David Spade flick “The Benchwarmers”. She is 5. At her mother’s house she watched Star Wars, a movie that scared the crap out of me when I saw it when I was 10 (1977). A little potty humor, sight gags and gafaws hurts no one and is just the thing for some gut-busting good fun. Perhaps we will start with The Shaggy Dog which she has been asking to see.

I *loathe* alarm clocks and thankfully my internal clock ALMOST never fails…I was poking around in China Town in NYC a few years back and saw the CUTEST Hello Kitty alarm clock for my oldest daugher…it WAS classic Hello Kitty cute little face with it’s stout little body standing so cutely. I have always been drawn to Hello Kitty (I still am!). To our HORROR this thing would go off in the night as if possessed…this SHRILL voice would say GOOD MORNING…REALLY LOUDLY and then these chimes would sound. Needless to say it was drop-kicked. I hate alarm clocks…If I do have to set one I wake up to NPR and just lie there listening to the news….is that “hitting the snooze button” equivalent?
Lately I have tried a new tactic in the battle to get up the sam etime every day. It’s called the “5:45 throw your ass of bed routine”. I have been attempting to hit the hay at 10 and get up by 6 everyday for about a week now. Of course tonight is The Shield on FX so it’ll have to be 11.
Alarm clocks blow. I stopped using them once my son was born. I always wanted to quit the habit, but never had the mastery of my own wake up. Then my kid came along and I’m up at 6:30 everyday no matter if it’s a weekday. But I still cringe everytime I hear that awful awful sound. Glad I no longer start my day that way.
