Tiny Tech Thursday: MacWorld!

Wow, what a crazy Apple filled week this has been. For all you Mac/Apple fans out there I am sure you knew about MacWorld which took place in San Fransisco this week. Stevey had a couple new toys up his sleeve and here a breakdown of what happened!
MacBook Pro: Could this be the end of the PowerBook line? The MacBook Pro sports, the new Intel Duo chip starting at 1.67GHz. Please remember the Intel Duo chip is a dual core chip meaning you’re running 2 x 1.67GHz on ONE chip! That’s 4-5 times faster then the PowerBooks!!! The MacBook Pro also comes with 667MHz front-side bus, 512MBs of RAM (expandable to 2GBs), firewire 400 port, USB2 and a express port slot. It has built-in WiFi and Bluetooth 2 capabilities. It comes with a 15.4″ display and an ATI X1600 video card to run it! It also comes equipped with a built-in iSight!
The MacBook Pro ships with the all new OS X Tiger 10.4.4, iLife ‘06, Photobooth and Frontrow!

There’s a bunch more info about MacWorld and other cool things after the jump! Click the link below to read the entire article!
iMac G5 Intel: Yup, they also updated their iMac line with the new Intel chips! That is really about the only change in the iMac, they do also ship with 10.4.4 and iLife ‘06. The iMac is now 2 time as fast as the previous PowerPC G5 models! Dang!

Apple iPod FM Tuner: Finally Apple has released a VERY nice and “integrated” as usual, FM tuner for the iPod.
Just plug in your iPod Radio Remote and select “Radio” from the main iPod menu. Tuning takes place right there in the color display with your Click Wheel, just as you’d set a classic analog radio. Easily mark a favorite station for quick access later, and switch between favorite stations using either the iPod or the remote. Snag it for $49 now!
iLife and iWork ‘06: Hrmmm, just some updates to the iLife suite. A little breakdown!
iPhoto now allows you to import upto 250,000 images and while browsing through them all it’s blazingly fast! Another new things, I thought that might be semi-interesting is photocasting. And yes it actually sounds pretty stupid…but I think I might actually have a use for it. Basically photocasting is a lot like podcasting. You can add photos to a RSS feed and people can subscribe to that feed and view the images. You can also create calendars, post cards, birthday cards and you can easily publish your images to the web with iPhoto and a new iLife application called iWeb!
iMovie now has more themes! It has real-time editing effects, cinematic titling, enhanced audio tools, you can have more then one project open at a time and you can also create video podcast and blogs again with iWeb and iMovie!!
GarageBand is actually looking really nice and hopefully we’ll get the update here at TinyMeat and it’ll be the only application we’ll need to do the podcast since now it has a podcast recoding studio. No need for 12 different applications to get your podcast made and published! It now works nice with iChat so you can hold interviews with people and it works with iWeb so you can publish your content to the web easily…
iWeb, the brand new application to hit the iLife line-up allows anyone to create, publish and manage a web site or a blog very easily! It comes with some pre-made templates, integrates quite nicely with the other iLife applications, allows for easy blogging and podcasting.
Wrap-up: So overall I think this was a pretty decent. There was a bunch of useless updates…I mean yes, all these iLife updates are cool if you have no idea how to use a computer…and it’s obvious there are many people out there. I will admit I can’t wait to get my mits on the new GarageBand and iWeb. It will be nice to give those a spin.
Mikey and I had been talking with each other for the last week trying to figure out what Apple would be putting out. We thought about Intel iBooks, Intel PowerBooks, Mac Mini media centers, bluetooth or wireless iPods, maybe even a Intel based XServe! We always have fun trying to figure out what Stevey is going to give us!
And Mikey…please add anything I might have left out! Or Bevs!
PS. If anyone want to know what color “burnt ass” is, ask Bevs!
