The organizers of the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC have chosen their official mascot and it’s a, ready for this, a pile of rocks.
His/her/it’s name is Illanaaq the Inukshuk. Illanaaq is Inuit for “friend,” while an inukshuk is a traditional stone marker used by the Inuit to guide their way across the sometimes featureless Arctic.

Excuse me, but it’s a pile of rocks, otherwise known as a Cairn (read, rockpile).
